Class Policies
Thank you for registering for a class at PoeticGold!
  • If you have not paid in advance through PoeticGold, your spot in class is not guaranteed. If you still need to pay, please pay me via Venmo at Anne-StP
  • Only one handler/owner per dog may attend class for indoor classes. This is a CDC recommendation that we take seriously.
  • Classes of more than 6 students will be held outside for now; smaller classes will be held indoors.
  • All students must wear masks and stay at least 6 feet apart - whether inside or outside; their dogs should not interact.
  • All students must bring their own hand sanitizer, water bowls, water, and treats
  • Please do not arrive earlier than 10 minutes prior to the beginning of your class; remain in the parking lot area until the previous class has gotten into their vehicles.
  • Please bring your own chair if you need a chair and your class is meeting outside.
PAYMENTS and REFUNDS
  • I accept payment via Venmo, check, or cash. Payment is made in advance.
  • Refunds are allowed in the form of a credit toward a future class or workshop with me; the request for class withdrawal should be made prior to the second class.
  • Pay by Venmo to:  Anne-StP
  • Pay by check to: Anne St.Pierre
WHAT TO BRING to CLASS
  1. Flat buckle collar or martingale and a  4'- 6’ leash.  Retractable leashes are not allowed in the facility.
  2. Two cups of high-value, small, chewy treats
  3. Small toys (plush, tug or other) if your dog enjoys them
  4. Mat for dog to lie on (no towels and no thick dog beds). Bring this at the second class meeting. Here is an example of what kind of mat to bring: https://www.chewy.com/precision-pet-products-snoozzy/dp/102061
The classes and workshops will be a great learning experience for both you and your four-legged teammate!

Location/Directions  POETICGOLD Farm, 7 Trillium Lane, Falmouth, Maine
Follow your GPS or Mapquest/Google directions. Once you've turned onto Ladyslipper Lane, take the next left onto Trillium Lane. Follow Trillium to the end - it turns into a long gravel driveway- and you will find the facility in the red barn.

PARKING
There is ample onsite parking convenient to the building.

CLEAN UP
Please clean up after your dog as necessary throughout the property and facility. Do not let male dogs urinate or mark on the building, fence, etc. You may potty your dog on the grassy areas adjacent to the building. Do not enter the agility fenced area, as it is not a play or elimination area for dogs.

MANAGING DOGS
Be mindful that dogs participating in such events may have “personal space” issues. Be sure to manage your dog to minimize any problems. Please do not allow your dog to greet other dogs that you do not know.

ATTENDANCE
Make up classes are not offered. If your female dog missed a class due to estrus, credit will be given for a future class.

UNALTERED ANIMALS
I welcome all friendly dogs, whether they are altered or not. However, female dogs in their estrus cycle may not come to class/workshop (with the exception of conformation handling classes). If your female begins her cycle during the course of the class, credit will be given to a future class or workshop.

CANCELLATIONS
If class/workshop is cancelled due to the weather, I will notify students no later than 3 hours prior to the beginning of class or workshop. A make up class will be offered if a class is cancelled due to weather.
KEEPING IT POSITIVE
I use positive-reinforcement based methods for training. These methods are based on the latest science of animal learning and behavior and have the added benefit of being the most effective, most humane and most fun way to train!  I encourage students to use humane walking and training equipment and methods, including head harnesses, front-buckle harnesses, and flat collars.  Prong collars, shock collars and ear pinching are not permitted in classes/workshops.

VACCINATIONS
Your dog should be vaccinated prior to coming to classes. I assume your due diligence in protecting other dogs as well as your own with the age-appropriate vaccinations.

Dogs older than16 weeks should have received a distemper/parvo vaccination (DHLPP) as well as a rabies vaccination.
If your dog has not received these vaccination(s), please make an appointment with your veterinarian to complete the required vaccination(s) prior to coming to classes.

Puppies younger than16 weeks should have received, at the very minimum, the first of the two required boosters for DHLPP.  If your pup has not received at least one of these boosters, please make an appointment with your veterinarian to complete the required
vaccinations prior to coming to class.

DECLINES & REFERRALS
We reserve the right to decline entry to any dog who presents behavior issues that may be dangerous, disruptive, or that may be exacerbated by participation in a group setting. If behavior issues are discovered during the class and we feel that it is in everyone's best interest for you to seek a private trainer, you will be provided with a qualified trainer referral and a refund.
